Reality Show Attempts to Help Women with ADD

The daytime reality television Show Starting Over began its third season on September 19, 2005. Unlike previous seasons this one began with a three week couples relationship boot camp which received mixed reactions from long term viewers of the show. Fans were very happy when the show returned to its regular format last week of helping six women who live together under one roof achieve their goals.

Among the six women in the house is TJ who has Attention Deficit Disorder and learning disabilities. Like so many other people with Adult ADD, TJ has issues with communication and social skills. Her ultimate goal while in the house is to connect with others. The first week in the Starting Over house has been very challenging for TJ and her fellow house guests when it comes to communication.

ADD or ADHD?

  • The correct medical term for Attention Deficit Disorder is ADHD. There are 3 subtypes of ADHD: Predominantly inattentive(commonly called ADD), Predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, and Combined. Through out this blog and the ADHD relates sites linked from this blog the terms ADHD, AD/HD, and ADD are used interchangeably.
